More accolades for Agrifood Hub members

Congratulations to Agrifood Hub members Wildlife Drones and PPB Technology, who’ve both recently received awards for their great work.

On 5 March, Wildlife Drones was recognised in the Australian Association for Uncrewed Systems Industry Awards, winning the Innovation – technology Award. The award recognises organisations that have developed drone technologies, including drone systems or sub-systems, that have had a significant positive impact for end users or the broader uncrewed systems industry.

Wildlife Drones received the award for the development of the world’s first robotic radio-tracking drone system prototype, which is now a viable product in its second generation of production. The innovative technology empowers land managers and wildlife researchers to track small animal movements like never before, offering a much-needed alternative to traditional animal tracking technology.

“As in previous years AAUS received an amazing number of nominations for the 2024 awards, highlighting the strength and level of innovation that is taking place in our industry,” the organisation’s website said.

“All the finalists made impressive reading and we thank everyone for taking the time to nominate, the high standards made judging very difficult.”

A week later, on 13 March, PPB Technology added to their trophy cabinet, taking out the Product Design category in the Victorian Premier’s Design Awards.

Founder Stephen Trowell said it was a tremendous honour to be selected for the award from a field of amazing finalists.

“It has been such a rewarding journey developing the CYBERTONGUE® from invention to product, in collaboration with our design and engineering partners Tricycle Developments and Xentronics,” Stephen said.

“We are proud to add this award to our collection; rounding out the trifecta following our 2023 Best in Class, Medical and Scientific Equipment at the Good Design Australia’s national award ceremony and Best in our Class, Technology Platform category, in the ACT Division of the AIIA Awards.”
